Nigel Evans has welcomed today’s news that the UK's inflation rate, as measured by the consumer prices index (CPI), fell to 2.2% in October from 2.7% the month before.
Speaking from Westminster, Mr Evans said:
“This drop in inflation is good news. Inflation has been rising faster than wages for some time and to see a significant fall is good for families in the Ribble Valley and across the UK.
“I think that normal people just want to see their hard earned money going a bit further allowing them to buy a few more items or indeed to try and put a little aside.
“If we continue to get growth in the economy and inflation remains at a manageable level then, slowly but surely, I hope families will begin to see a difference.”
