Member of Parliament for the Ribble Valley, The Rt Hon Nigel Evans, is proud to learn that the Ribble Valley has been rated as the healthiest place to live in the England when it came to the overall health of its residents.
Using pre-Covid data, the Office of National Statistics (ONS) examined key areas such as obesity rates, housing, schooling and crime for all 307 local authorities in England in its annual Health Index. This data revealed that the Ribble Valley had increased its Health Index by 1.6points, to a score of 112.9 to place first in the health ratings with Hart (Hampshire) and Rushcliffe (Nottinghamshire) placing 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The Ribble Valley’s strongest area on the health index was among measures relating to “children and young people” and it had the North West’s second highest score relating to “living conditions” such as air pollution, road safety and noise complaints. This increased from a score of 113.5 to 119.6 meaning the Ribble Valley remained in the top 1% nationally for this subdomain.
