"We appreciate that the current situation may be worrying for many of your constituents, particularly for those with underlying medical conditions like diabetes. I am writing to share our latest COVID-19 advice for those living with diabetes in case this is helpful for any of your constituents getting in touch with you.
Like all of you, we’ve been closely following the development of the COVID-19 outbreak and we’re doing all we can to understand the ongoing effect this will have.
Those with diabetes are at increased risk of severe illness from coronavirus, and everyone at Diabetes UK is working very hard to make sure we can support everyone who needs help and advice. We want you to know that we’re here for the 4.8 million people with the condition across the UK.
The COVID-19 outbreak is a fast changing situation, but we’re making sure the most up-to-date information on its impact to people with diabetes is available, and in line with the latest from the government. We’ll also be offering other information about staying well, keeping active, and looking after emotional wellbeing.
You can find the guidance for your constituents here: www.diabetes.org.uk/coronavirus
Constituents can also get specialist information and advice on all aspects of living with diabetes through our Diabetes UK Helpline. We can help with answers, support or just to talk to someone who knows about diabetes - on 0345 123 2399 or [email protected]. Our helpline is open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm, and we’re here to help."
