Nigel Evans, Member of Parliament for the Ribble Valley and Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, was the guest speaker at Whalley Golf Club’s Charity Dinner on Friday night. The event was in aid of Pendleside Hospice which is a registered charity providing for the special needs of adults with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. The purpose of a hospice is to improve the quality of life for its patients. This is achieved by the provision of specialist medical and nursing care and the provision of social, emotional and spiritual support for patients and their family and carers.
Speaking after the event, Mr Evans said:
“I would like to thank Wendy Green, Lady Captain of Whalley Golf Club, for organising such a fantastic event. There was a wonderful turnout and that was no doubt also down to the fact that we were all there in aid of Pendleside Hospice.
“Pendleside Hospice is a superb, community focused charity and it deserves our support. It has a philosophy of care which promotes the quality of life and I sincerely hope that we have been of help to all those who work so tirelessly at the hospice. They provide a great facility to ensure that people receive care when they need it most.”
