Nigel today attended an event in Westminster held by the National Caravan Council, the trade industry representing the interests of the UK caravan industry. The NCC represents all elements of the supply chain involving caravans, not just the towed type, and represents several businesses in the Ribble Valley.
Speaking after the event Mr Evans said, ‘I was delighted to have the opportunity to attend today’s event and learn more about this successful sector. The caravan industry makes a huge contribution to the economy, a total of £6 billion a year and employs around 130,000 people and it is important that we recognise its contribution.
Caravanning is a UK manufacturing success story, with 95% of caravans in the UK made here, a trend that should be repeated across other industries.
There are several caravan businesses in the Ribble Valley which I have regular contact with, including Lunar Caravans, Campbells Caravans and Walton Summit Truck Centre. They are among many caravan businesses across Lancashire and the UK who are creating jobs and helping the economy to grow and I look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.’
