Nigel today attended an event in Parliament held by Cancer Research UK, showcasing their important work in the research field with the aim of reaching a 3 in 4 cancer survival rate in the next 20 years from current survival rates of 2 in 4.
Speaking from Westminster yesterday afternoon, Mr Evans said “I was delighted to be able to visit this event and see for myself some of the techniques now used to fight this awful disease. Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer and it is therefore vital that the current £4.6 billion spent on science and research every year is maintained and highlighted. Cancer Research UK are among the many charities doing fantastic work in this field and I hope that the improvements in diagnosis and treatment that we have seen in our lifetimes will continue and that their aim of a 75% survival rate will be met well ahead of schedule.”
