Nigel has today welcomed the latest unemployment figures from the Ribble Valley constituency. The number of unemployment claimants in the Ribble Valley is 252 lower than in May 2013 and 34 lower than in April 2014, representing a rate of just 1.3% of the economically active population aged 16-64, well below the national average.
Speaking from Westminster this morning Mr Evans said, “I very much welcome this information released by the Office for National Statistics this morning, showing the Ribble Valley to be well inside the lowest 15% of Parliamentary constituencies for unemployment. It is clear from these figures that the Government’s long term economic plan is working and that a real difference is beginning to be felt by those who have been out of work in recent times. As I have said previously there is still a long way to go to fully mend the damaged economy left by the last Labour Government, but for those finally finding work again it demonstrates that we are moving in the right direction and I look forward to this trend continuing.”
