The Rt Hon Nigel Evans, MP for the Ribble Valley, has welcomed the Health Secretaries confirmation that the vast majority of remaining restrictions will be lifted on the 19th July.
Speaking about the Health Secretaries announcement, Nigel said:
“I am 100% in favour of the decision to reopen the country, which follows one of the most difficult periods that most of us have ever had to go through.
“I think the approach of having been cautious, but now deciding to reopen, is right. It is vital to take into account the impact that lockdown has on businesses, society and people’s lives.
“It is clear that Covid will be with us for years to come, and we now need to learn to live with the virus, something which is now possible given the success of the incredible vaccination programme, which has been a complete game changer.
“The stats show that the vaccine programme is reducing the impact of Covid on the NHS, with hospitalisations and deaths having fallen dramatically.
“The data is clear, the vaccines work. Those who haven’t yet been vaccinated should look to book their appointments as quickly as possible, to further help reduce the spread and impact of Covid.”
