Nigel this week attended a reception in Parliament hosted by the charity Beating Bowel Cancer to support better outcomes for bowel cancer patients. Mr Evans joined other MPs, bowel cancer patients and health professionals to support better survival rates for bowel cancer patients, with bowel cancer being the UK’s second biggest cancer killer with around 16,000 deaths each year.
Speaking after the event Mr Evans said, “We all need to work to keep bowel cancer high on the agenda to ensure that the disease becomes a rare cancer killer rather than the second biggest cancer killer in the UK within the life of the next Government. Bowel cancer does not have to be the UK’s second biggest killer, if caught early enough survival rates can be as high as 90%, a situation I want to see. If I am given the honour of being in Parliament after the election I will do my utmost to promote support for better bowel cancer care and will continue to support the excellent work of Beating Bowel Cancer.”
