Nigel today spoke at Prime Ministers Questions on the recent announcement by BAE Systems that a new £15.6 million training academy is to open next year at the Lancashire Enterprise Zone in Samlesbury.
Speaking to the Prime Minister David Cameron Mr Evans said,
‘Will the Prime Minister welcome the £15.6 million investment in this training academy and next year will he come and visit the site in his continuing capacity as the Prime Minister of our great country?’
To which the Prime Minister replied,
‘I am very grateful for the invitation. I was at BAE’s other site in Lancashire last week as a celebration of national apprenticeship week, looking at the training and the skills that they are delivering. I will certainly take him up on the invitation to open this excellent academy.’
Speaking after the debate Mr Evans said, “I was delighted to be able to raise this issue in Parliament and am looking forward to the Prime Minister coming to see the new facility, once it is opened. BAE Systems are a world-leader in high-tech engineering and the announcement that they have committed to ensuring this remains the case for the next generation is great news for Lancashire.”
