Nigel Evans, Member of Parliament for the Ribble Valley and Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, has paid tribute to Baroness Thatcher who sadly passed away today.
Speaking from the Ribble Valley, Mr Evans said:
“I was incredibly saddened by the news of Margaret Thatcher’s death today. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family and to her children in particular.
“I would like to pay tribute to the legacy that she leaves behind. Margaret Thatcher was a political colossus and a force of nature. She led our country through extremely difficult times and her premiership can still be felt in the UK today.
“As the first female prime minister she represents a landmark in British politics. I was privileged to meet her on a number of occasions and her appetite for politics never ceased to amaze me. She will be sorely missed.”
