Nigel Evans, Member of Parliament for the Ribble Valley and Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, was today delighted to welcome members of the Rotary Club of Clitheroe to Westminster. The President of the club, David Bleazard, and the club members were taken for a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament which they thoroughly enjoyed.
Speaking from Westminster, Mr. Evans said:
“I am always delighted when constituents are able to come to the Houses of Parliament. Rotarians do such a huge amount for the local community and charities. It is my pleasure to offer my help in raising awareness for their campaigns.
“At the current time Rotary International are working on the ‘End Polio Now Campaign’, which aims to make the final push to end Polio worldwide. Eradicating this crippling and potentially fatal disease is achievable and I will be taking this issue up with the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition in the coming weeks to discuss what part we can play to help this campaign. We really are close to ending Polio and I am determined that these meetings will have a positive impact for the campaign.”
