Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans has welcomed the news that a Clitheroe company, The Little Green Bus, has secured the funding from the Department of Transport’s Community Transport Minibus Fund.
The funding has provided a new community minibus which will provide help to elderly residents, people with learning and physical disabilities, and to the people who do not have access to public bus routes.
Mr. Evans stated:
“This funding has provided valuable assistance for people who are in need and will benefit greatly from this investment. It will provide assistance to those who are without the ability to use public transport or require extra assistance, and I am proud that the Ribble Valley has been provided with such a valuable resource.”
Nigel has previously written to the Lancashire County Council to express his opposition to proposed cuts to the existing public bus services in the local area, and the securing of funding for this extra service was met positively.
Mr. Evans further commented:
“The rural nature of the Ribble Valley means it is even more important to maintain its transport services. The addition of a community minibus will allow for extra transport service to help people live their lives in a better environment. Whilst the addition of this is very important to the community, I will continue to try to ensure that this can continue to run alongside of the excellent public transport the Ribble Valley offers.”
