It was recently announced that this year’s Summer Days Festival in Clitheroe would no longer be going ahead due to financial restrictions.
Speaking from Clitheroe, Nigel Evans, MP for the Ribble Valley, said,
“It is a great shame that the Summer Days Festival has been cancelled this year. I know from talking to people that there was a good deal of excitement around the festival. Especially concerning the headline acts of Simply Red, Echo and the Bunnymen, and Jools Holland.
“I was greatly looking forward to the festival; the run-up had a great feeling of community spirit and it would have been lovely to behold. Events such as these are what set a community like Clitheroe apart from other areas. They bring people together in enjoyment and celebration of good times. I know that this was the aim of Summer Days.
“What is more, a big family summer festival would be fantastic for the local economy. My heart goes out to the organisers who have had to make the tough decision to cancel. That cannot have been easy.”
The Summer Days Festival was due to begin on 6th July but organisers have been forced to pull the event because of rising costs. Ticket purchasers will be able to claim a full refund from ticket vendors.
