Nigel Evans MP is encouraging people living in The Ribble Valley to claim financial support to help their communities thrive.
On Tuesday 21st March, Nigel attended an event at the House of Commons to learn how projects can gain a cash boost from The National Lottery Community Fund. Whilst there are many projects across the constituency which have already benefited from funding there are still a great deal more opportunities available.
The National Lottery Community Fund is the largest funder of community activity in the UK. Over the last 12 months, the Fund has awarded nearly £600 million across the UK. Last year, over 35% of organisations that received a grant from The National Lottery Community Fund were awarded funding for the first time.
This comes ahead of a new report due to launch next month, Strengthening communities: Strategies for supporting places that have missed out on funding, which reveals the ways in which the Fund works to fill funding gaps and to get grants into the hands of communities who need it.
Nigel Evans MP said:
“National Lottery funding is such a brilliant resource for charities and community projects across the Ribble Valley and the whole of the UK. So, it is vitally important that those who could benefit most from these grants are aware of them and know how to apply.
“The money available will enable local priorities to be addressed by local people and I want to encourage anybody in the Ribble Valley with a great idea for a community project to apply for the opportunities on offer.”
David Knott, Chief Executive at The National Lottery Community Fund, said:
“At The National Lottery Community Fund, we are constantly striving to remove barriers to accessing our funding, investing in building local capacity, filling funding gaps and giving voice to UK communities. National Lottery funding is for everyone and enables communities to prioritise what matters to them.”
National Lottery players raise over £30 million each week for good causes across the UK and in the last 12 months have given out nearly £600 million to 12,500 organisations reaching every local authority and constituency in the UK.
