Nigel Evans, Member of Parliament for the Ribble Valley and President of the All Party Beer Group, today welcomed the news that Thwaites will be building a new brewery, head office and visitor centre in the Ribble Valley.
Daniel Thwaites of Lancashire has been an established brewery for over 200 years and is now the leading Regional Brewer from the North of England and an internationally renowned brand. Richard Bailey, CEO of Daniel Thwaites, explained: “we have been looking for a new site for over two years, and Sykes Holt, Mellor Brook fits perfectly with our vision for the future of the business”.
Speaking from Westminster, Nigel said:
"I am absolutely delighted to hear that Thwaites has chosen to build their new brewery, head offices and visitor centre in the Ribble Valley. By staying in Lancashire this international brand continues to honour its roots and increase jobs for local people. What is more the new site in Mellor Brook is just off the A59 so really accessible to visitors and within the beautiful countryside of the Ribble Valley.
I know that Ribble Valley Council played an important role in ensuring Thwaites did not leave Lancashire and I would particularly like to thank Stuart Hirst, Leader of the Ribble Valley Borough Council, Marshal Scott, Chief Executive of the Ribble Valley Borough Council for all their hard work.
Today Stuart, Marshal and I met with Brandon Lewis MP, Under-Secretary of State for the Department for Communities and Local Government, in Westminster to tell him about Thwaites’ new developments and ask him to visit the Ribble Valley to see the building underway. Brandon Lewis shared our excitement at the news and I look forward to showing Brandon the site when he visits the Ribble Valley.”
