Ribchester St Wilfred’s and Barrow Primary were both listed in the top 50 small English state primary schools, while Gisburn Primary and Langho St Leonard’s were listed in the top 500 English state primary schools.
Speaking from Westminster this morning Mr Evans said,
“I am delighted that not just one but several of our local schools have been recognised in this way, the only surprise for me was that more Ribble Valley schools were not in the list. We are all incredibly fortunate to have such high achieving schools in our area, with hard working teachers and supportive parents.
Primary education is perhaps the most vital part of the education system. If a child leaves primary school without the same numeracy and literacy skills as their peers, it is unlikely that they will catch up and will be forever at a disadvantage. It is therefore vital that primary schools are properly funded and that they receive enough Government support. I will always stand up for primary schools in the Ribble Valley.”
